I love asking questions!
I participated in a workshop many years ago that was to help us "develop our personal brand." It was aimed at "social media us," which I found completely disinteresting; I ended up uncovering my natural brand by the end of the work, though, and it opened the way for me.
Curiosity-led engagement.
That's my nature, my brand, and it's what I bring to the fore in coaching situations. I'm not asking you questions to manipulate you into a certain way of thinking; I'm asking you questions that grow from genuine curiosity. In my experience, that curiosity is contagious, and when you get curious about your own inner workings, something transformative happens.
We start there, then we find a way forward, drawing on the answers you find in response to those questions.
If you're feeling stuck or unable to figure out the best, next step on your path, let's chat.
Claude Levi-Strauss said that the bricoleur is "one who creates beauty and usefulness from the dumpheap of human existence."
I don't believe your life is a dumpheap. I do think many of us mistake our lives as such, not grasping how incredible it is that we've gotten where we are as who we are in the world as it is.
Bricolage is the art of the bricoleur.
I use the word bricolage to describe this collection of seeming disparate skills that, together, become something more than the sum of their parts. Likewise, when we sit down, I'll ask questions that gather your unique experiences and understandings into a more cohesive whole. You already have what you need. Together, we can explore and uncover your deep, inner knowing; you'll use that to empower your next steps.
This is bricolage coaching.
People are often surprised when I call what I do coaching. They ask if I have a background in coaching. I do!
My approach to what you might call "pastoral care" is been rooted in coaching. My training brings together mindfulness, co-active coaching techniques, and tools like Powerful Questions and Thinking Routines. My experience is the decade of professional clergy work that has allowed me to sit across the table from all sorts of folks in all sorts of situations and invite them into their own, deep wisdom.
I'm an ordained minister, I'm a certified Mindfulness Life Coach, Certified Spiritual Life Coach, have certifications and training from the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center and Southeast Community Services including the Community Leadership Certificate, Peer Coaching, and Co-Active Coaching. I also have more than 25 years experience teaching mindfulness techniques and offering guided imagery with individuals and groups.
Not only do I have a coaching background, my coaching background dwells in community and grows through relationship. I'd be honored to sit down with you to have just such a conversation as this.
If you'd like to start that conversation, send me an email with the button below, and let's be in touch.
Note: My coaching client load is currently full through the beginning of August at the earliest. I would still love to hear from you if you'd like to join the waitlist.
