Our 2023 retreats were an incredible success! Thank you to everyone who participated!

You'll arrange your own flight into and out of Oaxaca International Airport (OAX) arriving September 23 and departing September 30.
You will be shuttled from the airport to The Villa at La Cúpula in Teotitlán del Valle where you'll have 7 nights of wonderful accommodations.
This Moorish-style villa has open patios with incredible views of the Sierra Juarez Mountains. The restaurant on site serves Oaxacan moles, tlayudas and much, much more. Phone and Internet, bath tubs, restaurant service for guests, and maid service are all included.
We'll explore Teotitlán, nearby pueblos, and Oaxaca City during our time together. Much of this exploration will include walking and public transport, moving us at a slower speed. Why? Provocation! Moving on foot and amongst the people we're visiting will invite us into deeper engagement and richer experiences.
We will have time for learning about local craft including hands-on experiences with some of the most skilled artisans of the region. We'll explore traditional dyeing processes, weaving, printmaking, and how to make chocolate from bean to beverage.
We'll have the opportunity to enjoy the cultural sites of the area with private, guided tours.
We'll dive into the delicious foods of the region at restaurants, cafes, and market vendors around Oaxaca and at our homebase in Teotitlán.
This Oaxaca retreat is just right for creatives and makers to dive deep into process and practice. Our schedule will alternate between experience and reflection.
We'll utilize Thinking Routines from Harvard's Project Zero to help us dive deeply into our experiences. Provocations for creative explorations will abound!
The ground of our work comes from John Dewey: We don't learn from experience; we learn from reflecting on experience. We'll establish a rhythm that invites us to experience and reflection.

The See, Make, Do Retreats will operate from a basic understanding that I'm calling a "manifesto." Here is the current prototype of the manifesto so that you might have a general sense of the foundation upon which our experience will be built.
Together, at these retreats, we will:

This price includes the following and more:
Remember, you will book your own flights, arriving on the 23rd and departing on the 30th. I'll take care of all the planning between those two dates!
The Chase United MileagePlus card offers a great points bonus after satisfying some spending requirements. My husband and I got this card in September of 2022 and had earned enough points by the end of the year for both of us to travel to Oaxaca and back at the end of January 2023. We paid a little over $200 total in fees that miles didn't cover. We had earned enough miles on a second card that I got with his referral link to go again within 4 months.
So, if you're thinking about the trip, this card might help make it even more affordable. Use the link, and I think we both get bonus points. Look at the options, and get the one that suits you best.
Full refund if canceled by July 31, 2023
75% refund if canceled by August 31, 2023
No refund if canceled on or after September 1, 2023 with exceptions for illness or family emergency.
You must smell the flowers! This nardo blossom scented our room for more than a week!
